CROWD SERIES

Charcoal. Paintings.

“I became deeply entranced with the live music experience while working as a band artist and accompanying my partner, musician Sean Diesfeld, to shows which included sitting behind the scenes and front stage to photograph bands. While my lense kept gaze on the artists, it was the crowd I was most interested in watching. Seeing faces of wonder and joy and sorrow, the dancing especially, showing a collective experience. At a live performance, there is a grand Trinity; the musicians, the music, and the crowd, that one or any without the other, is no live show. The sense of festivus and unity is one of the most human experiences to witness. The Trinity feeds one another to feel and grow and move. I have seen greatness from living rooms and backyards to stadiums and arenas. It is not the scale, but the willingness for all to submit to presence that transcends the experience.”
